Real-time update:
I’m going to be leaving Vermont this morning and heading north into Quebec. I’ll do a bit of sight-seeing in Montreal, then head towards Cornwall for the night. Tomorrow I’ll be meeting up with @VA3QV Bob, who I know from Twitter, and a bunch of the local guys for a cookout and some portable ops. Then I’m heading back into New York before I head west for the other part of my Canadian adventure.
While I’m in Canada, my cell phone will be in airplane mode. This means no phone calls, texts, emails, tweets, etc. I’ll be using the phone for an alarm clock, a camera, and maybe a place to jot down some notes, but that’s all. You can contact me by Twitter and email, just understand that until I have the laptop out and connected to wifi, I won’t get your message.
Work me while I’m in Canada. I’ll start on 14.345 as normal, moving down if needed. I’ll be operating as VE2/NR4CB and VE3/NR4CB while I’m there.
And yes, I’ll be seeking out the much-raved-about poutine, Timbits, and Double Doubles. It’s going to be an adventure!
73 de NR4CB, Connie

i don’t see ketchup chips in that list :)
Ketchup chips were definitely not on the list, but I bought them anyway. I was *not* impressed.

Yes cell phones from the USA roaming fees cost a lot and I do the same when I go to the USA. In the late 1980′s I use a mobile cell phone and there wasn’t even long distant charges when I went to Montana for a vacation. All my calls from home were free and also locale calls too. Wow times have changed. Have a good time in Canada and taste some of Tims and poutine. Sorry about the high gas prices. I have only a vertical antenna up for 20 meters so unless conditions are good…IRLP is the only way to go.
Lyle, I’ll be operating portable with Bob VA3QV and his group starting at 1400 EDT tomorrow / later today (June 27). I’m not sure if Bob will be able to update via Twitter, but check his stream (twitter.com/VA3QV) for updates. He may post frequencies. I won’t be able to update my own stream until I’m at a location where I can get wifi. He says we’ll have 100w and a longwire set up to work 80m-10m. If I’m on 20m, I’ll start on 14.345 and move down if necessary. If I’m on 10m, I’ll start at 28.345 and move down. Not sure about the other bands. But try to find us. I’ll be on as VE3/NR4CB.
